Protégé 

Designed with the developing student in mind, the Protege barrel utilizes a tapered professional style bore and slim design in order to be very responsive but possess a sweet core sound. These pieces are cut from the same blocks as all other Backun pieces and are ideal for student and intermediate clarinets.

 Eb 

Eb barrels have incorporated a cutout so you can play on Eb or uncut Bb reeds. These ringless barrels provide flexibility and a centered tone for your Eb clarinet.

 MOBA 

Designed in collaboration with Ricardo Morales, the MoBa barrel incorporates qualities of the Fatboy and adds intergrated rings. With the whole barrel vibrating, MoBa barrels create a resistance and enormous tone to cut through the largest orchestras.

Fatboy 

Backun's most popular barrel, the Fatboy’s have the free blowing feeling of a ringless barrel, while maintaining the big focused sound of the traditional. A very versatile barrel, the Fatboy will carry your sound to the back of the hall. The large size helps control pitch variations as the clarinet warms up.

Traditional 

Backun's original barrel has slightly more resistance and a big, focused tone. Unlike a stock barrel with metal rings, the wooden rings do not constrain the wood, allowing the entire piece to vibrate. This barrel is great for orchestral and ensemble work.
