The Frank oboes we sell come in two styles, which differ mostly in the bell: 1) Model 12, It has a rich tone 2) BRILLANT model: this is bore is based on the Model 12 oboes. It has a conical bore than the Regular bore, narrower near the top and wider at the bell. The sound is very focus and dark. It is heavier than Model 12.

The famous Philadelphia Master Craftsman Hans Monnig is from this family in Germany, one of his cousins is still working at the factory. I think a lot of young American players need to be reminded who Hans Monnig was, and what he has contributed to the American Oboe School.
