The Travel Mandrel will accept all oboe reeds, since there is no actual mandrel that has to be matched with different staple styles. Its shorter length also makes getting through airport security much easier.
The metal sleeve, similar to the ones used on actual oboes, provides a solid grip on the reed while protecting the wood of the handle and keeping the opening the same size over the years.
This travel mandrel fits together with the Reeds 'n Stuff Tools To Go collection. The smaller handle is designed for musicians who travel a lot, have smaller hands, or just prefer a smaller handle on their reed-making tools.
